Tuition and Fees
From our 2012 National Blue Ribbon Award to our commitment to tikkun olam, Tehiyah Day School provides a school experience that encompasses academics, curiosity, community, and a vibrant connection to Judaism.
Tuition and Fees for 2016-2017 Academic Year
Kindergarten and First Grade
Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade
Sixth and Seventh Grade
Tehiyah Day School endeavors to remain accessible to families seeking an exceptional Jewish day school experience. The school encourages families who need financial assistance to request information about the indexed tuition program from the Admissions Office. If a family demonstrates exceptional need and Tehiyah has resources available, tuition for that family may be set below the levels listed above.
Tehiyah provides a discount for families with three or more children enrolled at the school, where tuition is discounted for the third and successive child starting from the lowest grades; this discount is available only for families not participating in the indexed tuition program. We also provide discounts for pre-payment of tuition. Please speak to our Admissions Office about these discounts.
Activity fees cover yearbooks, t-shirts, special performances, most of the costs associated with field trips, and other activities that enrich our students’ experiences at Tehiyah. Activity fees do not cover some incidental fees for certain field trips, nor the cost of lunch plans, bus service, or after-school care & classes.
Additional Fees for Optional Services
Tehiyah offers private school bus service with multiple stops in Oakland, Berkeley, and El Cerrito. There is a morning bus and two afternoon buses (one departs Tehiyah immediately after school and one departs to arrive at its final Oakland stop around 6 pm). For more information on bus stops, please contact the Admission Office.

Tehiyah After-school Program (TAP)
Tehiyah offers an excellent after-school program that emphasizes student choice, encourages creativity, and facilitates healthy relationship-building in a safe, nurturing, multi-age environment. TAP is available every school day until 6:00pm daily. TAP is also offered during parent-teacher conferences, professional development trainings, and several other days when classes are not in session; please ask the Admissions Office for a sample schedule. For the 2015-2016 academic year TAP is available for a flat fee of $1,450 per child, or you may use TAP on a drop-in basis of $12 per hour for Kindergarten to 5th grade students and $6/hour for 6th to 8th students.
TAP is provided free-of-charge to all Bridge-K students and is provided at no cost for Kindergarten students between 2:30 and 3:15 p.m.
In addition to TAP, Tehiyah offers after-school enrichment classes that range in price from $100-$250 per quarter. Tehiyah Hot Lunch Program
We are very pleased to nourish our students daily with fresh, healthy, delicious, affordable, kosher meals. All lunches are made by our extraordinary Chef Selma and her staff who use whole grains and organic produce as often as possible. Tehiyah’s kitchen is nut-free and seed-free, and we offer gluten-free, lactose-free, as well as vegetarian options on days there is meat or fish on the menu. Chef Selma has been known to transform the pickiest of eaters who grow to love her culinary creations of “adult food”, not the limited options on typical kids’ menus. Everything she cooks is made with love and served with a smile.
Lunch is provided free to Bridge-K students.
